“If you take care of the clients, you don’t need to worry about anything else. That was the advice my dad gave me and it has served me well,” says Christopher Moore, private wealth advisor with Moore & Associates, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. in Fort Wayne. “He was a financial advisor for 35 years and he said it’s not about the money. It’s not about return. It’s not about which stock you picked – it’s about taking care of the client.”

Moore says putting his clients’ best interests first is what makes his business different from others. Instead of building his business around a product to sell, the dedication to the client and prudent financial advice he provides is the product.

“Financial planning is not about one particular investment. It’s about investing time to understand your client and their financial objectives and future goals. Then, you discuss various strategies to develop a plan and help them through the changes in their life, their expenses, their needs, to make sure you give the best possible advice for them to reach their financial goals the best way possible.”

Moore says a lot of people do not form a strong and trusting bond with their financial advisors.  Many advisors neglect to take the time to know the client as a unique person, with personal financial goals that are unlike anyone else’s. “They don’t take the time to do that because many financial advisors are only paid for product sales and not on financial advisory solutions. Our job, as one of the top financial advisory practices in the country, is to listen to our clients’ needs and solve any problems that may occur along the way. Therefore, our education and experience sets Moore & Associates apart from other advisors.” 

Moore has set up his practice to ensure he and his team are able to effectively communicate with each other about their clients.

“Since I started 28 years ago, my office has never used voicemail during our normal business hours. Your call will be answered by a live person and you will be taken care of by a dedicated member of our client service department, investment department or the financial planning department.”
