Hoover The Mover, located in Fort Wayne, has been in business for 93 years and has created a solid reputation for assisting residential customers.
“In the last three years, we’ve worked to build up the commercial side of the business, which is currently thriving,” says Tad Levy, president of Hoover The Mover. “We offer far more than just the service of physically moving a business from one location to another.”
“We’re really a third party logistics company, so we have many different solutions for all of our customers,” says Drew Dillman, who handles commercial sales and business development for Hoover. “We don’t just move furniture from one room to another. There’s a long process involved when it comes to moving a business and it all starts with an organized plan.”
Dillman says organized planning is the key to every successful move, no matter the size of the business or how much material is being moved. He says allowing plenty of time to come up with the best strategy is always recommended and he spends time meeting with the staff to let them know what to expect on moving day. This is to ensure that the move runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible and that the business is back up and running in no time.
“Most movers don’t do this, but we think it’s important for everyone to know what’s going to happen,” says Levy. “They need to know how to pack their items and how to label everything. We even supply specific containers for moving, which cuts down on the waste traditional boxes create and significantly minimizes potential damages to the equipment.”
Those containers are called “E-crates” and are one of the many advantages Hoover The Mover offers its commercial customers.
“It’s basically like a Rubbermaid® tub on wheels,” says Dillman. “That way, your employees aren’t having to bend down and pick up big, heavy boxes. There’s an area on the front of the crate for labeling, so we know who it belongs to and exactly where it should go in the new building. The crates can be stacked four high, so they don’t take up much space and we can easily wheel them out of the old office and into the new one.”
Dillman says the company has more than 100,000 square feet of warehouse space in Allen County and can store just about anything for its customers.
“We are also agents for CRST Specialized Transportation, Inc. and are one of many satellite locations nationwide. So, if a dentist somewhere out east has a pump go down on one of his machines and he needs a new one that day, we can get it there and make arrangements for a technician to meet up with the movers and get that machine up and running. What sets us apart from the competition really boils down to three specific things: ample warehouse space, efficient transportation and dedicated commercial and residential movers. Most importantly, however, our customer service and attention to detail are second to none. We don’t have anything if we don’t have that.”
