When Todd Stock offered his agents and staff the opportunity to match a corporate donation to Riley Hospital for Children, he was confident the response would be positive.
He was shocked by just how positive it was.
“We had one agent who was so moved by the presentation given by Riley, she ended up contributing 100 percent of her income for a year,” says Stock, Managing Partner | Owner of RE/MAX Results in Fort Wayne. “She was the number one RE/MAX agent in the country for her donations to the Children’s Miracle Network for Riley. We have great people who are totally committed to their profession, very productive and very much immersed in their local communities.”
Stock says collectively, the agents, staff and ownership contributed $127,000 to Riley last year.
RE/MAX Results is a full-service real estate company serving northeast and central Indiana with eight offices in Fort Wayne, Angola, Goshen, Greenwood, Kendallville, Warsaw and Wolcottville.
Stock says the Children’s Miracle Network is the chosen charity of the RE/MAX corporation nationwide, but each of the local offices also participates in charitable events within their communities.
“Our Angola office has a Halloween blood drive through the Red Cross every year and it’s become the most successful blood drive in northeast Indiana,” says Stock. “Last year, they had three Red Cross busses there all day long. They make it fun with a big costume contest and plenty of food. The employees in that office send out cards and call every single person who came the year before to remind them about the event. They put a tremendous amount of effort into it. It’s just phenomenal.”
The Angola office also held a diaper drive for flood victims in the southern U.S. last year and rallied the efforts of the other northern offices to participate.
Stock says the Kendallville office is off the charts when it comes to charity work.
“They have something called ‘Basket Brigade’ where they feed more than 400 local families in their community at Thanksgiving time. They also provide coats, clothes, food and gifts to the Kendallville Cares Christmas Bureau,” Stock says. “The folks at our Greenwood office provide meals to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House at Riley. Our Goshen and Warsaw offices support the Salvation Army each year at Christmas. Our Fort Wayne offices help the Christmas Bureau and support Boomerang Backpacks for kids. I am always impressed by what everyone does. The neat thing about it is, they don’t have to do this, they want to do this.”
Both Stock and his business partner, Larry Phillips, Managing Partner | Owner, say having top notch team members is what makes them so successful from both a philanthropic and business standpoint.
“Our leadership team is full of people with a considerable amount of experience in real estate,” says Phillips. “Julie Johnson, our Regional Financial Manager, is a CPA and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. Regional Operations Manager Jill Raines has 18 years of experience. Regional Development Director Jaclyn Myers has 14 years and Dave McDaniel, our Regional Development Manager, has more than 10 years. We also have tremendous sales managers, business managers and staff in the offices. They really are all game changers because real estate is a much different game now than it was when I first entered this industry 47 years ago.”
“In the last five years, we’ve grown roughly 50 percent and we’re just so fortunate to have such a wonderful leadership team,” says Stock. “That’s been really tremendous in helping us provide great service and support.”
The team has received national recognition for its accomplishments from two highly-regarded real estate industry publications.
“We made the list of the top 500 real estate firms in the country by RISMedia and REAL Trends ranked us 25th in the country for agent productivity, which we’re most proud of,” says Stock. “We might not be the largest company, but we have really productive people. In fact, we’re No. 1 in the state of Indiana for agent productivity for large companies.”
There are thousands of RE/MAX companies across the United States. Phillips says their company is ranked No. 1 in the state by number of transactions and ranked 9th nationally.
“Our offices are fairly moderate in size, with 20 to 30 agents per office, with the exception of Greenwood, which is larger. We don’t think of ourselves as a large company. It’s just that our agent profile is high. They’re so committed to the industry and provide a high level of service. It’s just unique.”
In his nearly five decades of experience, Phillips says he’s never seen the real estate market like it is today.
“We’ve never had this kind of buyer demand on the industry. The demand on the inventory is the greatest I’ve ever seen. It’s because the economy is terrific right now. Interest rates and unemployment rates are low and consumer confidence is high. It’s like the perfect storm.”
“Allen County is down to about a one-month supply of available homes,” says Stock. “A balanced market is a 6-month supply. Another big factor in this trend is millennials entering the market. They’re the largest age group in the country right now and they’re just flooding the real estate market.”
Stock and Phillips say sellers are receiving multiple offers on their homes and selling them within days of putting them up for sale. Buyers are having to make several offers on different homes before being able to get one.
“It’s fast. Things are moving quicker than ever before,” says Stock. “All the more reason to have a dedicated and well-experienced agent help you. Buyers and sellers need someone to navigate them through this to be able to get the results they want. It really is a whole new ball game out there.”
