Recruit quality talent and fill jobs faster

From advanced materials to vehicle manufacturing, companies are working overtime to recruit and retain quality talent. Employers in northeast Indiana need skilled talent to sustain and grow their businesses; talent is the crucial ingredient for economic success and prosperity throughout the entire region. In the global war for jobs, many employers are struggling to find efficient and effective resources to market job opportunities to job seekers.

To showcase the full scope of career opportunities in northeast Indiana, the Regional Partnership provides a dedicated jobs and internships portal featuring the full depth and breadth of careers in our 11 counties. The Regional Partnership’s investors have financially supported the portal, so posting a job to the site is free of charge for employers in northeast Indiana. Last year, in addition to those already living within the region, job seekers from Chicago, Detroit, Columbus, Ann Arbor, Cincinnati and other midwestern communities visited northeast Indiana’s jobs and internships portal. A campaign marketing the portal to these cities outside of Indiana generated more than 5.1 million total impressions and over 9,800 total clicks leading to more than 11,000 page views in just 3 months.

“We are constantly recruiting new talent for our organization, and the northeast Indiana jobs portal is another way for us to expose our brand and our openings,” says Baily Beiswanger, HR manager at Micropulse, Inc., a medical device manufacturer in Columbia City in Whitley County.

What job seekers want

Development Counsellors International, the leader in marketing places, published a report, “Talent Wars: What People Look for in Jobs and Locations,” to understand how talent assesses new job opportunities and relocation decisions. The report found that salary is the most important factor for job seekers, next to work-life balance and company benefits. Job seekers need to know not only about the opportunities at companies, but also about the amenities and attractions.

On the jobs portal, employers can customize their postings. From salary information to listing company benefits, employers have the power to tell their best stories. A new feature allows employers to manage a database of jobs, import an Excel file to post multiple positions at once and republish jobs with a click of a button.

Julie Bowman, finance & HR generalist for the Honeywell Foundation in Wabash, emphasizes the importance of promoting job openings in new and different ways. “In today’s market for talent, we are constantly re-evaluating our recruiting strategies and using social media to reach as many potential applicants as we can. The northeast Indiana jobs portal provides a great avenue to promote our jobs, and posting is free, which allows our recruiting budget to go further.”

Unlike other job sites, northeast Indiana’s jobs portal markets job opportunities nationally and showcases the region’s communities and quality of life. As employers look to hire quality talent, the jobs portal provides an edge on recruiting efforts to make a positive impact on hiring efforts.
