“Our tagline has always been ‘Better Together’ and we find that is very true when it comes to First Federal Bank and Fort Wayne,” says Greg Allen, executive vice president, market area executive for First Federal Bank. “We have just opened our third office in Fort Wayne and know there will be more in the future.”

The “Better Together” philosophy has been a part of the First Federal Bank culture since its inception in 1920 in Ohio. Clients from northeast Indiana have been banking with First Federal Bank long before the bank had a physical presence in Fort Wayne.

“First Federal Bank has been an active lender in the Fort Wayne Market since 1999. This led to the bank opening up a loan production office and branch facility in the community in 2007 in a strip center on Coldwater Road. This branch facility was relocated in 2012 to our current office on Dupont Road. In 2014, the bank made an additional investment in the community with a full-service office on Illinois Road. A Market Area Headquarters was added in May 2018, in downtown Fort Wayne in the Anthony Wayne Building located at 203 East Berry Street on the sixth floor. This was followed up with our newest branch location on the first floor of the Anthony Wayne Building in October of this year,” says Allen.

Allen has been in the banking business for 30 years, the last 20 of them with First Federal Bank. He and his wife recently relocated to the community and enjoy the new relationships they have built. Since moving, Allen has joined the Fort Wayne Rotary Club and serves on the Board of Directors of PBS39. He says the partnership between Fort Wayne and First Federal Bank exemplifies the “Better Together” philosophy.

“We have a lot to offer Fort Wayne and Fort Wayne has a lot to offer us,” he says. “We have a strong belief in giving back to the community and supporting non-profits. This year, we were the presenting sponsor of the 2018 Fright Night and have been involved with Habitat for Humanity and financed the relocation of its local ReStore. We’re a full member of Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. and are actively sponsoring dozens of other philanthropic groups. Fort Wayne is a very vibrant, dynamic and growing market, and we look forward to continuing our growth in this community.”

Allen says the numbers tell the story. Since joining the team in 1998, First Federal Bank has grown from a $500 million dollar bank to over $3 billion in assets. In 2014, the Fort Wayne market had a total of $13 million in deposits – today it’s up to $90 million, and he believes that number will only get higher.

The bank has hired an experienced and dedicated team of bankers in the market area who are Fort Wayne residents and natives who care about the community, their clients and are focused on giving back to the community. “Fort Wayne is blossoming right now and our team is very committed to this market. These are exciting times for both First Federal Bank and the entire city of Fort Wayne. First Federal Bank believes in the future of Fort Wayne and is looking forward to playing a greater role in its growth and building life-long relationships.”
