Parkview Health Flight Services is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Parkview Samaritan 2 medical helicopter.
For the last 20 years, patients and their families have relied upon the rapid transport of Samaritan 2, perhaps during the scariest moments of their lives. Its crew responds to trauma scenes across the region to provide emergency care and rapid transportation to medical facilities for critically ill or injured patients.
Samaritan 2 averages one and a half calls per day. It has transported more than 8,000 patients in the North Central Indiana region since Feb. 1, 1999.
Parkview is proud to have two Samaritan medical helicopters. Samaritan 1 is based in Fort Wayne, and Samaritan 2 is based in Rochester, Indiana. Both are called into action by dispatchers at the Parkview Logistics Center, located on the Parkview Hospital Randallia campus in Fort Wayne.
