Do you have a nickname? Het

Describe yourself in three words. Happy, driven, caring

In what city did you grow up? Oijen, The Netherlands

What book has had the greatest impact on you? Gisslen Professional Baking (the first baking book I acquired in culinary school!)

What is the first movie you ever saw in a theater? 101 Dalmations

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Pet hotel owner

What famous person would you most like to meet? Whitney Houston (rest in peace!)

What is your favorite part of your job? Seeing loyal customers who have also become my wonderful friends!

What do you actually do at your job? I wear those seven small business hats! All customer inquiries, all social media content posting, all ordering and purchasing, all baking, all selling, order deliveries and set up, and all bookkeeping and accounting.

What do you love most about Fort Wayne? Its supportiveness in wanting small local businesses to succeed and its people’s loyalty in doing so.

What was your first job? Receptionist at a roofing company

What is your greatest accomplishment? Having great relationships with my husband Alex and our families. 

Who is your hero? My mom

What is your dream job? I’m doing it!

What is your biggest pet peeve? Lies

Do you have a motto you live by? If so, what is it? Good things come to those who wait. 

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to cast as you? My sister 

What would you choose as your last meal? Green peas always and forever

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party (living, dead, famous, real or fictional)? My husband Alex and both sides of our entire families. 

What three items would you want with you if you were stranded on a desert island (other than food and water)? My husband Alex, sunscreen (girl’s got fair skin!) and a swimsuit!

If you had a time machine, where and to what time period would you travel? The ‘80s, like living my 20s in the mid ‘80s. 

Who would you like to see perform in concert? Kygo (total Euro tropical house answer)

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Curacao! (Did not get to honeymoon there thanks to COVID :(

What does your workout regimen consist of? Trying to work out haha. But I do really enjoy playing volleyball a few times a week on intramural teams. 

What profession would you never try? Anything with a 9 to 5 cubicle desk job… I think I would crawl up the walls!

If you could solve one major problem, what would it be? Literal first thought was world hunger.

Where will you go on your next vacation? Florida — both of our sets of parents are there for the winter

What’s one thing you can’t live without? The people I love most

If you could give your 15 year-old self advice, what would it be? Don’t worry, you’ll get to eat desserts your entire life! 

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Patience is a virtue

What’s your biggest fear? The middle of the ocean and all of its massive inhabitants!!

What is the best gift you have ever been given? Little treasures that family members have shared with us that they’ve held onto for many years to one day give away to their children. 

Name one person who has inspired you in your life. My very first pastry chef in culinary school- chef James Myatt

If you hosted a talk show, who would be your first guest? Ellen! And we’d just dance! 

What is one important skill you think everyone should have? Interact kindly socially

What skill would you like to master? Water skiing!! Summer of 2021 is going to be my year. 

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you win a medal in? Whistling. Hands down. 

What fad do you wish would come back or stay gone forever? I would really like it if swishy wind suits came back into fashion. 

What age do you wish you could permanently be and why? 25. Old enough to be responsible and independent but young enough to never be the slightest bit hungover. 

Who was your first celebrity crush? Aaron Carter (Backstreet Boys baby! Because my sister liked them — never NSync of course)

What was the last gift you gave someone? A pair of nautical Happy Socks

What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten? Cow brain (no need to try)

What would you do with your 15 minutes of fame? Send a bunch of happiness back into that drabby year dubbed 2020

What is the most productive time of day for you? 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. (prime baking time)

If you could send a message to the entire world, what would you say in 30 seconds? Don’t sweat the small stuff and don’t forget to eat a doughnut every once in a while! 

If you received enough money to never need to work again, what would you spend your time doing? Raise some awesome kids with my husband and show them all of the good things in life.

When was the last time you tried something new? Monday (it’s Wednesday now)

If you had to teach someone one thing, what would you teach? To be kind. 

What gets you excited and driven to achieve? A challenge, something new I’ve not yet done before but has some pressure behind and a need to succeed. 

If you could go back in time, once, and change a single thing, what would it be? I’m one of those corny believers that think nothing can be changed or my life wouldn’t be what it is today. 

What moment in your life would you most like to go back and relive? Our wedding day with our family and friends there!

If you could know the answer to one of life’s mysteries, which mystery would you choose? When will COVID-19 no longer affect all of our lives? (very current mystery)

What do you collect? Money!

When was the last time you cried and why? Doubting that I’m the best person I can possibly be at all times (no competitive self deficiency here haha)

What is your earliest memory? I think it’s so hard to know whether you remember it from stories other people have told you or photos you’ve seen, but it must have been my brother and sister doing something I found wildly impressive. 

When were you happiest? Super cheesy, but truly this very moment I’m writing this. 

What trait or habit in yourself do you deplore? Hard headed and sometimes I think I’m right (lol!)

Do you have any guilty pleasures? What are they? Well I already mentioned Pitbull earlier so that’s pretty big. But I also like tickling people more than I should. 

What is something that never fails to make you laugh? My husband is truly one of those rare ones literally everyone finds hilarious (me included)

What is your favorite…

Vacation spot? Florida (family time!)

Holiday? Why? Memorial Day (it’s always close to my birthday)

Sports team? Villa Killa Muskrats (our volleyball team name because we’ve had a bit of a muskrat problem in our new country property’s pond and most of our friends on the team live/d in villas) 

Song? Tough to choose just one of Whitney’s..but I’d have to go with Greatest Love of All

Drink? Sparkling water, forever!

Candy? Twix

Pizza? Veggie lover’s

Flower? Dark purple calla lilies 

Season? Spring

Movie? Annie (only the OG musical that our mom recorded on VHS back in the early 90s, the Dutch hostess announcing the movie is the best)

Fort Wayne feature? Downtown is booming! 

Fast food restaurant? Arby’s (those shakes)

TV show? Grey’s Anatomy (yes, I am one of those fools!)

Hobby? Very new — glamming up our new home 

Flavor of ice cream? Woof, so easy. Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked.
