Do you have a nickname? T J

In what city did you grow up? On a farm near Middletown, Indiana, a small rural community

What book has had the greatest impact on you? The poem If by Rudyard Kipling

What is the first movie you ever saw in a theater? The Sound of Music. It was a class trip.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? School bus driver. My grandfather was a farmer and a school bus driver.

What famous person would you most like to meet? Abraham Lincoln

What do you actually do at your job? Bridge gaps

What do you love most about Fort Wayne? Great place to raise a family

What was your first job? Farm hand

What is your greatest accomplishment? Besides my family, a record book buck 

Who is your hero? My grandpa 

What is your dream job? The one I have now at Horizon Bank. I’m part of a great team that is working to build our brand and serve clients in Northeast Indiana.

What is your biggest pet peeve? Lack of fairness 

Do you have a motto you live by? If so, what is it? I can be right or I can be happy 

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to cast as you? Sam Elliott, although it’s admittedly a stretch

What would you choose as your last meal? Casa’s Veal Parmesan with a white side and of course their salad.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party (living, dead, famous, real or fictional)? Ben Franklin, Lincoln, Da Vinci, Einstein, Jesus, my daughter, my wife, my son and Martin Luther King

What three items would you want with you if you were stranded on a desert island (other than food and water)? My wife, an internet device and an unlimited supply of butter. I like butter.

Who would you like to see perform in concert? Boston

What does your workout regimen consist of? Biking, walking, working in the yard and chasing grandkids

What profession would you never try? Police officer. Thankless and dangerous. I have great respect for their service

What’s one thing you can’t live without? Access to learning

If you could give your 15 year-old self advice, what would it be? Don’t you worry, you’ll find yourself

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? In order to get, you have to give

What’s your biggest fear? Being buried alive

What is the best gift you have ever been given? My children

What is one important skill you think everyone should have? Conflict resolution

What skill would you like to master? Cooking. I’m working on it.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you win a medal in? Playing the drum solo from “wipeout” with either hand

What fad do you wish would come back or stay gone forever? Disco gone

What age do you wish you could permanently be and why? This age. I’m healthy, I know more than I used to and I get to see my family grow up.

Who was your first celebrity crush? Jacqueline Bissett

What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten? Scrapple. I had it during a visit to Gettysburg. It was horrible.

What would you do with your 15 minutes of fame? I never wanted to be famous. I would ride quietly into the sunset.

What is the most productive time of day for you? Morning

If you could send a message to the entire world, what would you say in 30 seconds? We have more in common than we have differences. Let’s focus on that.

If you received enough money to never need to work again, what would you spend your time doing? Being outdoors, hunting, fishing, etc.

When was the last time you tried something new? I try to every day

If you had to teach someone one thing, what would you teach? Negotiation. We all want things. What’s the best way to get them.

What gets you excited and driven to achieve? Helping people be the best they can be

If you could go back in time, once, and change a single thing, what would it be? The death of my son

What moment in your life would you most like to go back and relive? Walking my daughter down the aisle. I’m not normally nervous, but I was that day and forgot to kiss her.

If you could know the answer to one of life’s mysteries, which mystery would you choose? Is there life elsewhere in the universe

When was the last time you cried and why? The death of my son

What is your earliest memory? I kissed a girl named Mary at nap time in nursery school. I think it changed her life.

Do you have any guilty pleasures? What are they? McDonald’s french fries

What is something that never fails to make you laugh? Clever, quick sarcasm
