On any given day, people who live at The Towne House Retirement Community might enjoy a concert, go to the fitness center, participate in a book club, take a walk or catch up with friends at a wine and cheese reception. “It doesn’t feel like a health care setting,” explains Sales Director Lori Peare. “People are busy living.”

One of only two retirement communities in Indiana accredited for person-centered and dementia care, the manicured grounds, restaurant-style dining facilities and diverse housing options evoke the feel of a college campus.  Accommodations at The Towne House span a full continuum, from independent living to assisted living to long-term care. Health care services range from as-needed assistance to full-time skilled care, as well as specialized options like Medicare rehabilitation, memory care and hospice services.

“One thing that makes The Towne House unique,” says Peare, “is that people can stay in the same apartment and pick up health care services as they need them.”

The wide variety of housing options and long list of amenities allow people to move to The Towne House long before they need any assistance. The independent and assisted living residences come in one- to three-bedroom configurations and feature full-sized kitchens, washers and dryers and underground parking, which enables residents to come and go as they please.

“It’s all about choices,” says Peare. “You make your own choices and set your own schedule, and when you need nursing care, we bring it to you.”

To keep pace with its growing popularity, The Towne House is adding new apartments to its campus, with the first residents moving into them this October. Marketing Director Sarah Horacek looks forward to showcasing them to the public in an open house around the same time. “You don’t have to give up anything to move here,” says Horacek. “In fact, residents can be around their peers and do things they often didn’t get a chance to do before. They can enjoy life and let us take care of the rest.”

Both Horacek and Peare invite anyone who might be interested to visit The Towne House and talk through questions or concerns. “Just come and look,” stresses Horacek. “You’ll be amazed by the resort-like amenities.”

Peare adds, “It’s like a cruise ship that doesn’t move!”
