As work continues on Fort Wayne International Airport’s East Terminal Expansion Project, exciting milestones are brewing! One of which includes the recent opening of FWA’s new restaurant, coffee shop and market area. Local businesses Hop River Brewing and Bon Bon’s Coffee have both opened inside the airport terminal building under operator Tailwind Hospitality, Inc.

Hop River Brewing and Bon Bon’s Coffee continue FWA’s commitment to serving as northeast Indiana’s local airport by bringing local dining options to the airport terminal. These new concessions will enhance the passenger experience at FWA, offering local flavors and high-quality options that complement the airport’s broader East Terminal Expansion.

Located on the second floor of the terminal building, the new restaurant area will offer easy access for passengers to grab a local brew and bite before their flight. This new space includes open concept seating, a large bar area featuring Hop River’s local beer selections, a brand-new kitchen area with all new equipment, a new point-of-sales system, updated technology, an open shared counter for easy ordering and more! The new Gateway Lounge from STAR Bank occupies the area as well – more details to come soon!

“We are thrilled to welcome Tailwind Concessions to FWA. This new addition allows our passengers to enjoy local flavors and a unique sense of place, enhancing the travel experience with a true taste of our region’s vibrant culture and promoting the idea of both flying and eating local,” says Scott Hinderman, executive director of airports. “We are also excited for passengers to finally experience the first finished portion of the East Terminal Expansion Project. We look forward to more progress on the new spaces within the airport terminal and hope the community and FWA passengers are excited for what’s to come.”

When the airport’s new Grand Hall area opens in Spring 2025, the restaurant, coffee shop and retail space will flow with the open space allowing for passengers to easily come and go. The Grand Hall will also feature a new outdoor patio area where passengers will be able to take food and beverage to enjoy outside while waiting for their flight.

The East Terminal Expansion and Renovation Project continues to bring the Fort Wayne International Airport terminal building into the modern era – continuing the work started with the West Terminal Expansion and Rehabilitation Project, which wrapped construction at the end of May 2023. The East Terminal Expansion and Renovation project is a part of Project Gateway, which has included the West Terminal Expansion and Rehabilitation project, Parking Lot Rehabilitation Project, Rental Car Return Lot Canopy Expansion and Renewable Solar Energy Project, and the East and West Terminal Apron Improvement Project.
